I can recommend WaniKani (I'm on level 17). However, some caveats: Firstly, you'll see lots of forum posts about hitting level 60 in 1-2 years, this is very difficult unless you want to dedicate a substantial amount of time (hours

One factor is that London is so much larger than the next biggest city (approx 9million vs 1.1 million). It's much harder to justify (and pay for) these kind of infrastructure projects in small cities.

For me it's a combination of how people talk about others 'below' their class, and how much social mixing between the classes there is - but I realise that this is very hard to measure. Just my 2c having lived in UK, Europe,

As a Brit, I’d agree that classicism is bad here, and it feels worse than the US. However, much of Europe is the same. E.g. France.

|> For those not familiar with UK media, The Guardian (better known as The Grauniad due to the frequency of spelling mistakes in its pages) is a very left-leaning paper. It’s left of centre, but not ‘very left’. And ‘The Grauniad’ is a v

Small fries and a chicken sandwich wouldn’t count as a full meal for me, and I’m fairly skinny. The author might be saving money, but they’re also probably going hungry.

You can’t transform the area and expect it to remain cheap. I lived in the Olympic Village for 3 years and they did a great job: - lovely park - completely pedestrianised - good, and still relatively affordable, apartments Feels like a succ

Apologies for self-promotion, but I’m building the exact product you describe: - project focused - GitHub style discussion threads - slightly more powerful tasks than Basecamp - simple/minimal design Currently in closed beta (macroapp.

Interestingly Jim Keller spoke about this on (I believe) the Lex Friedman podcast. He said something along the lines of 'Most people are pattern matchers, they are good at applying known patterns to problems they face. However, the bes

The relevant clue there is ‘he finally’. The ‘finally’ is the part that hints at only taking the last letter of ‘he’. Cryptic crosswords in the UK often have hidden prepositions and clues like this.

Ah yes. Although that doesn’t seem to be new either? Of course if something is completely off (bedroom missing) they have to give you a refund for the remainder of the time.

Yes. I think it’s just a rebranding of the current offering.

As I understand it, Aircover is for cancellations by the host, it wouldn’t apply for the scenario you describe.

Aircover seems a rebranding of the current policy? They already give a refund if the host cancels (as you would expect). And they already have discretion to find you alternative accommodation (although they never have for me). It’s still us

How many days did they reimburse you for? The OP is talking about 29+ day stays. If your long term stay is cancelled a few days before it can be pretty much impossible to find an alternative. On both occasions that this has happened to me,

No. They may give you a voucher, however for us the voucher was only $100 (so far less than the additional cost of rebooking at the last minute) and secondly, the voucher had restrictions on which bookings you could use it on, and it expire

The main risk with this is that the host cancels at the last minute. Happened to me twice for long term stays (e.g. cancelling 2 days before start date) and it can completely ruin your plans.

I read these kind of blog posts, but honestly, it’s hard to have too much sympathy. This guy presumably earned millions out of working at AirBnB, is staggeringly rich compared to most people, and he could have left at any time for another j

Boris is letting Nadine Dorries do what she wants as a thank you for her unswerving loyalty. It's incredible someone so incompetent and frankly, stupid, is a cabinet minister.

Minor adjustment. When following this kind of approach I typically define the criteria before the solutions. This reduces the chance of adding bias to your criteria.

As an individual traveler, not much has changed. You always had to do border control as the UK is not part of Schengen. However, I imagine things have changed for freight traffic through the tunnel.

For me, this isn’t an issue of feedback, it’s an issue of culture. Does the company do the right thing? Wise does this properly which makes me trust them straight away. Edit. Don’t want to come off too harsh, just saying the cookie approach

Whilst the messaging here is chilling, I don’t think E2E will be banned in the UK. Not least because journalists and MPs use it everyday in signal and WhatsApp.

Another question to ask - who lost most of the ETH in the first place? Could some of this be VCs paying themselves back and shoring up their investment in Solana at the same time?
