Algolia looks good, but are there any OSS alternatives for those of us trying to bootstrap a search system

by afturner 7y ago
for real? Is RegEx actually a FSM behind the scenes? or are you trying to say something else

by afturner 7y ago
This is both awesome and so so discouraging. Does anyone have some direction on how to produce good search systems??

I'm really liking this recent uptick in Google/Mozilla/Opera development/rivalry lately. It's good for consumers. If only things happened more quickly...

I think the punch line is that the last dude doesn't exist

Right. Things like trees, multiple windows, theming, advanced components (with deep composition), collection views, etc. These are the real use cases for a library like this, but no such thing exists apart from Gtk and friends.

This is a particularly good summary, thanks for that. At the end of the day, the only way for 5 to happen, is for a development project to architect the requirements and complexities way before even starting to code.

I find it hard to imagine they wouldn't

Is there any information on the tech behind this? As a software developer this is horrifying and fascinating

or something Andy Samberg would say on Nine-Nine.

do you have a HDD? perhaps that's memory to disk caching. I have ZERO clue, just guessing.

They were very careful to leave themselves and Mastercard out of that slide. This was not the case for the previous time they mentioned privacy, where they included themselves.

I'm a classical singer and just all around lover of music.. I'm also a software developer. Listening to music while I program is an absolute disaster. It either has to be a video or an audiobook.

I have suspected IBS and suspected Borderline (diagnosed MDD and Anxiety) and I swear to god my stomach health is related to my mental health. Correlated, perhaps, but there's definitely some sort of relation based on my experience. ps

"Why do Indians always sound so defensive about their practices?" I feel like that's a broad overgeneralization, but regardless I'd wager a guess that it would have something to do with not wanting to sound like a charla

I've always wanted to write an grown-ups disney musical about her. A few years ago I even called up the IPO and said that if I had the money and the right team, he'd consider it. I have neither. Alas.

by afturner 8y ago
when did you last use it? I found it to be quite usable imho a few weeks ago

by afturner 8y ago
