I've read the original turtledove readme, maybe there's something better, maybe it went over my head. But there is this request: > GET https://first-ad-network.com/.well-known/fetch-ads?interest_... So, at

Hm, with that system, isn't it possible for the advertiser to ultimately know which users saw the ads and ultimately what their interests are?

In my experience, I always come to regret anything I ever bought from ads. To the point that now I use an adblocker. For people who are unaffected by ads, it's just a minor annoyance. For people who actually affected by ads, I'd s

I think it means level. I assume the reason to say that is that having a higher level in a video game is considered good, whereas it is common for people to discriminate against people of more age.

Hm, yeah, I think a key-value store would be easier to implement. I haven't looked at redis for some time now, but last time I did, persistence was done through snapshotting and everything would really be loaded into memory at start ti

I don’t think efficiency matters much in this case, but more robust and concise code is better. Most commands either take a file as a unnamed argument or you can just do something like <filename. But I agree, there may be commands where

Why always start with cat? Not using cat when you don’t need to means less typing, more efficient and mor robust code. Why use it if you don’t need to?

Very clever. I wonder if there are databases optimised for this use case. I can imagine something that always requires indexes to do the queries and stores data in disk in ways to make it easy to fetch only the bits you need.

That is not exclusive to OO and it wasn't invented by OO either. However, the common pitfall of changing the implementation of a method that was not designed to be changed I would argue to be more common in OO than in other paradigms.

It requires the app for two factor authentication. Even when using the website I need the app in order to perform certain operations.

Fair enough, ransomware is certainly an exaggeration, but the absurdity of it comes from the fact that not upgrading it just means they don’t do anything, whereas they are actively doing something and asking for money not to. Usually, peopl

Nothing will magically start calling your new function. If you are defining a new function that didn't exist before, then you'll have to actively call it somewhere. What you're describing instead is overriding an inherited fu

In functional programming you'd just create a new function that takes a value of the same type of those other 3 methods. But anyway, creating a new method without changing any of the methods of the super class I think it's general

I'm intrigued. How do you search and replace in nano and how can it be better than `:%s/<regex>/<replacement>/gc`? I thought search and replacement was one of the killer features of vim.

Converting classes into UML diagrams can be usefull regardless if you classify UML as obsolete or not. It's a nice why to understand how a given class or interface is used throughout.

I'm not angry. I just find the wording misleading. I thought you did so too, given your sentence. Given the interpretation of many people in this thread (including mine), I think there is plenty evidence that it is indeed misleading. I

The same can be said about any software, really. It’s all too easy for a single malicious dev to introduce security bugs in pretty much any project they are involved.
