The linker and makefile are not at all part of the c standard. Also, I assert that any "A versus B" will almost invariably favor A.

First note: I have never dealt with the internal workings of the Java VM, so this is just speculation. I also haven't tested any of this, but its still fun to speculate. In java private variables and functions are not accessible from outsi

I was taught that the purpose of virtual memory was originally for running multiple programs without their memory spaces overlapping rather than to use more memory than the system actually had. Is this incorrect?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say I like having a person on the other end. Questions are (for me) more quickly answered by a person. I also think the way the employees treat you is a good indication of the quality of the business.

Why was he complaining about the stack pointer first? Isn't this line: st1 = (void *)malloc(5000) + 5000; completely invalid too? You can't (I think it's undefined) increment a void pointer.

With C comes the pedantry int main(int argc, char ** argv) { int arr[4] = {0, 1, 2, 3}; int * p = arr + 5; // valid *p; // undefined behavior return 0; }

Concerning #2: Does 'const' mean that the function is not allowed to change the contents of the string, or does it mean that the contents of the string will never change? Suppose the 'sum' function was running in one thread, while in anot

I wouldn't mind seeing Python become the default scripting language for browsers over Javascript. Not that IronPython has to be the implementation. Python has a huge library and an easy learning curve.

What would be better is if C and C++ divorced each other and people realized that they are two separate languages. All of Google's results for C questions end up linking to some "C/C++" forum, which is almost certainly not what I'm looking

I tried running this on my XP64 machine with IE8, and the CPU went up to 100% for a couple seconds upon loading the page. It lagged more when changing the settings and became unresponsive. Does this happen for anyone else?

Too many modules still work for the 2.x branch. Python has a tremendous amount of power in its modules. To lose that power for a "cleaner" language is a substantial move.

Doesn't requiring javascript start to tread on MVC? I would prefer the presentation(HTML) to be decoupled from the logic (javascript). I run NoScript and all the pages I visit load way faster.
