I got into a situation a couple of years ago with Google over a few dollars when I terminated my paid GSuite account. It was impossible to contact them to settle the balance. They kept sending emails from a Google-branded department that wa

That model reminds me of Gitlab. You need all these features so a seat has to be expensive. But you need a seat for even the smallest interaction with repos, whether you’re a dev or you just want to raise issues. Left a bad taste in the mou

I have ended up writing BDD scenarios as plain code comments with conventions like capital “GIVEN” etc. A simple script to scrape test files and generate a markdown file to browse. Then you refactor your common helper functions as natural,

It really depends what you’re trying to do. Make something citable? Findable? Permalink? Crossref isn’t the only DOI registration agency. DataCite may be more relevant, although both require membership. Part of this is the commitment to mai

I wonder why Apple left those two large power pads? They don't look like typical test points. Are the populated from the existing PSU input or just there in case anyone wanted to mod it?

Word to anyone using Google forms for public-facing functions. Try it without a Google account. Somtimes the forms don't work (e.g. if they ask for an email address). Yes, some people aren't Google customers.

I don't know what DB was used in this csae, but Postgres doesn't have unsigned integers. It always struck me as hugely wasteful, as e.g. sequences start at zero by default.

This advice distinguishes between the form (a link or button) and the content. I think it makes sense because you had other ways of knowing that it's a link than the content (underline, blue text, button border). I guess this was writt

Thanks, and shame on me for not looking it up first! I still wonder if the tracks were kept clock-synched or whether punch-ins would produce clock dislocations, and if they were somehow buffered... This SoS article doesn't answer it, b

I've been thinking about something similar for a long time, although fully chromatic, about 4 octaves. Either percussive, with reeds, or flute organ pipes. Where I always get hung up is the cost of all the solenoids or valves. There&#x
