Exactly. Your original statement was about laws and training programs that the government should require that will prevent these things from happening. In your two stories, you have a person with a concealed carry permit, and a state troo

I don't understand this argument. There are not numerous cases in the US where people were trying defend themselves with good intentions, but due to their lack of government approved firearms training, they injured someone else. Do you fe

There is certainly news I'm more and less interested in. I still think there is room for improvement over general voting systems like Reddit and HN. Something like weighting votes based on voting similarity between users. I don't know whe

Agree, but let me ask you this. Do you want a personalized news feed of only things you are interested in? They are working on making that and I'm not aware of anyone else trying. It's not there yet but I like the idea.

I've actually found Evernote to be pretty helpful in turning my random internet readings into more long term knowledge. I read a lot of random articles about tcpdump or economics and read them but don't apply anything immediately. In my h

When people see that I highlight text while I'm reading, they always want to know what practical reason it serves. The simplest answer is that it kind of helps me track the text, but it's less than that. It also isn't quite just a nervous

I see no moral dilemma in the least. There are two problems with doping. First, athletic competition is human vs human and is innately about the limits of human ability. Why prove a human can lift large amounts of weight instead of using

I would love to hear even a theoretical version of this story where pulling the plug so quickly is not a error on ServerBreach's part. Since you bothered to create a throwaway just to post this, you might as well offer some specifics. As

I don't know what this is going to cost EA, but this may end up being a good thing. People hate Origin but more importantly, all their games are already on Steam, so they just continue to buy from Valve. This might get a few people to kee

Thank you tech crunch, I'm now more confused than before. So, what does the homework quote have to do with anything. Either IFTTT is allowed to use the Twitter API or they are not. I don't see how a laziness accusation is relevant.

One question I still haven't seen answered. Are these new zones prohibited from running a drug based export economy? Perhaps knowledge that the US wont' allow it to exist that way will prevent them from doing so.

I wonder if any of the companies that require unique uploads to the cloud service play fast and loose with compression. There is a large spectrum between running a hash over a file to see if it already exists on the server, and doing the s
