Honestly. Pencil. Every single programming book I own, that I've actually read, is covered in hand written notes. I also tape post-it notes onto important pages with more notes as bookmarks. It's free. Easy. Random access. Read&#x

Yep. They just took it. I happened to have a little in savings, and had just gotten my paycheck the day they took everything...so they got a decent amount (relative to me at least). Also, once they decide to take your money it's nearly

Strangely enough, almost this exact same thing happened to me. Apparently I was accountable for my ex-wife's tax bill (for a year in which we were not married) well after our divorce...in a state I never worked in.

David, I can't help but to feel like you are making a REALLY good point. CF only has a few outspoken advocates. Popular ones that I can think of I can count on one hand. It's definitely not "cool" among the startup cultu

I'm curious about which bits have been "blown away" compared to other languages and frameworks. I've done testing versus PHP for basically every sort of function related to web development (for my workflow) and can'

I don't understand the parallel. You mean, being that the three are originally Adobe products?

Full disclosure - because of some of the flack I've gotten as a CF developer I'm actually a bit self conscious about it. I'm glad you spoke up here!

I think if the average web developer, who had never tried CF, took a look at how easy it is to interact with DBs in CF....they'd probably be a bit shocked at how stupid easy it is. Definitely a strong point.

Same here (but with Zork)... Zork lead to Hypercard... Hypercard lead to a career as a programmer. Pretty cool when you think about it.

Man, I used to LOVE Zork (all of them)...I still have my hand-drawn maps of every single area. Took me months to make them.

Just a quick heads up - check your DNS settings (or however you choose to do it)... http://gradfly.co/ does not resolve. (requires 'www')

Another really good idea - I just sent this to some of our design guys and they love it. Having a link for specific results could be a great addition for sharing.

So simple - but so cool. What a great idea. My only "critique" would be to make the hex codes copy/paste ready in the results. I like the links to dribble, but I'd really like to just be able to quickly copy/paste t

Makes sense - 30 min a day is manageable for sure. It's just a matter of actually sticking to it. (I realize how ridiculous I sound right now) But I think you are quite right about finding motivation with visible progress. I better get

What a great idea - I wish every employer did this. A secret of mine : I always carry a notebook at work, when I start a new job I have made a habit of sketching the floor plan myself and labeling it with names and positions of the people I

I love threads like this - so inspiring. At the same time, reminds me how much of a lazy ass I am. I have like 10 side projects that I have about 0.005% complete right now. Any advice for a guy like me? (besides, "stop being a lazy ass

Shooting digital is MANY more times complicated and cumbersome than shooting film - this is a common misconception of those who have never shot film. It's infinitely more simple and "zen-like".
