But if you say that a battleship floats on the water in a similar way to a rubber duck floating in the water... it's actually not similar... they are the same. It's the same water and the same physics. The "only" appreci

Instead of making it just an elisp interpreter, make it a generic platform where you can interpret any language and have them with together. Make it Programming Language Macros, PLMACS. Kind of life a POSIXs standard. Or the Truffle framewo

I just read quite a bit of the summary. Honestly, I don't really care if they are cranks. The theory makes for a fun read, and they have a lot of interesting ideas. Trying to identify where their theory is wrong is a fun exercise, at l

If Physicists could split atoms with only their arms and legs with some safety equipment, I bet they would get paid even more than 3.5 million pound salary.

AFAIU CSV is fundamentally ambiguous and can't actually be parsed in a fully deterministic way. Edge cases get hard when dealing with nested commas, and there's no standard escape sequence. Probably matters less with a two column

I like your take here, but I just want to say, that I'm not sure claiming that consciousness has a quantum basia is that extraordinary. We deal with lots of things that are quantum in nature on a daily basis. Once you get down to a cer

Thermodynamic analysis would actually be a really useful way to attack this problem, but unfortunately (though fortunately for stability) the brain and our computers are no where near the Landauer limit of computation. I actually wonder if

Disease is actually the main reason. Any parasite, bacteria, virus, and especially prions spread much much more easily the closer the food is to your own biology. Cannibalistic tribes have had issues with this in even the recent past.

This is why nobody can decide if computer science is actually science, engineering, or art. It's such a vast industry that it's clearly all 3 depending on what your doing.

I don't think it's even limited to written or spoken languages. I've been learning a lot of CAD and mechanical principles lately, and I can tell that my brain has some sort of kinematic/movement language that is expandin

I thought the weak form was pretty solid? It's pretty obvious to anyone who learns math or programming, that once you find the right vocabulary or equation for something, that your brain chunks it, and it's easier to reason about

I looked it up. 1. SHA-256: Used twice (double SHA-256) for block hashing and once in address generation. 2. RIPEMD-160: Used once in address generation (after SHA-256). 3. ECDSA: Used once for transaction signing and verification. 4. Base5

Once you have the private key, you would submit a transaction with that private key and authorize a transaction to a public key that you control, and doesn't have part of the private key available. You don't need the public key, a

I just looked at those other code CAD programs, and I don't see the appeal over OpenSCAD. I have no interest in browser based CAD programs because as models become complex, that platform is too limited in performance. Python and statef

The really nice thing about Clojure is it runs on the JVM. The entire ecosystem could die tomorrow, and you can still compile new Clojure code for any system that supports Java in the future.
