Note that this uses an Intel-specific API, so it doesn’t currently work on AMD or ARM: https://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man1/perf-intel-pt.1.html > Intel Processor Trace is an extension of Intel Architectu

I don’t see a “Remember me” option [1] on the login form anymore. Maybe they’ve removed it until this can be properly resolved? [1]: Screenshot at https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Other-Linux-Discussions/Thinkpa...

Since 2016 I’ve given out 422 unique addresses in the form <hash of recipient name>@example.com, and so far zero messages have come in from an unexpected sender. I don’t know whether to feel reassured, or just lucky.

The thing I keep getting suspicious about is occasionally network traffic will stop, I begin troubleshooting with a traceroute, and then coincidentally traffic will resume. It feels like the traceroute fixed the problem but it must just be

I’m curious to learn how you ran across this. A browser extension that surfaces the data? Or do you regularly go around downloading and inspecting images as you read?

You misunderstand. :) The phrase is a play on words that literally means if “no one” is there you don’t have to stop for them. It’s a contrapositive description of yielding—the point being precisely to counter the common misconception (and

I like explaining this as “bikes don’t have to stop for no one”. Upon hearing that people are usually momentarily affronted by the apparent insolence, then realize I mean it literally and laugh.

The stop signs haven’t changed (on that note we do have lots of traffic calming islands [1]) but we did get the “Idaho” stop in 2020. [1]: https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/1hHn

I can relate to the desire to self-police among cyclists, though it sounds like this person was road raging as well. I often hear complaints from people who only drive cars that cyclists (as if they’re a monolith) are recklessly inconsidera

The sources of this database are largely outlets of self-promotion. I’d consider my own site part of the IndieWeb—I literally developed it at an IndieWebCamp—but you won’t find it listed here due to that sampling bias.

iirc “tweet” originated among users and was later adopted officially, so by analogy perhaps Mastodon’s mistake is to have unilaterally chosen a term from the outset.
