I'm been using a Windows Phone for 1 month (from iOS). Surprisingly, the pure OS part is not bad at all (even with some perks like BT aptX, default maps app with offline mode). Store is missing a bit of stuff (mostly first class games)

You can fined tune (almost like uMatrix) the blocking in the latest version by enabling "Advanced user feature".

Be aware that Adblock Plus for Chrome increases significantly RAM usage for each open tab. uBlock author has extensive benchmarks about this issue. https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/%C2%B5Block-vs.-ABP:-.

I believe that the hosts history should not be visible by default. It also shows hosts while browsing in private mode. Maybe only visible with an UAC auth.

I highly recommends HTTPS Switchboard or uBlock (same author). They are both faster and better than any Adblocker out there.

Disable the Windows service called "DNS Client". The name is suggesting that It disables DNS resolving but it's not. It will just remove the cache.

Almost unrelated but every SSDs with the old SF-1200 (such as Corsair F60) are not compatible with the current Intel Haswell platform. The drive randomly disappears from the system and this on ALL motherboards. Google "sandforce 1200 h

OVH just confirmed, they were compromised. http://forum.ovh.com/showthread.php?t=88277 (in french). Nutshell: - attacker brute forced the unique ID used in the reset URL - they could do it because the unique ID was not random enough -
