Well there's an entry point of course, but it shouldn't know much. Your entry point knows about your option parser which knows about the high-level actions your program performs which know about the sub-processes involved in accom

I'm going to assume (hope) that the mistakes in your comment are intended to be ironic. That's just wrong though. It can be incredibly useful to think about how you communicate and try to change. Trying to ape someone else's

If they do it repeatedly and it's making it impossible for you to communicate, a simple "excuse me" will do. If they absolutely will not stop interrupting, just excuse yourself from the conversation.

But realistically, if someone wants to manage their own system, they're going to spend the time working around whatever IT solutions are in place to begin with.

yes, async/await and generators are the same construct, represented by two different syntaxes. Each can be implemented in terms of the other.

It seems incredibly fragile, better to just use some kind of compile-to-js language. IcedCoffeeScript, Clojurescript, Gopherscript and more all make it possible to avoid callbacks in a cleaner way, with fewer restrictions and probably bette

I've only briefly looked through the source, so I'm not sure if they're doing this, but you can sort of intercept operators like `+` by implementing valueOf() on the object. When you perform a primitive operation on an obje

To clarify, I think what you mean is services being centralized around the user, as opposed to what other commentors seem to be interpreting which is users centralized around services (the current state of the web).

I haven't seen this specifically, but I have seen other languages move common top level behaviors within functions into parameter lists. Ruby, dart, coffescript allow setting of instance variables from the parameter list: class E

If some one ends up abusing drugs to the extent that they have to rely on the social safety net, let them. No one wants to be poor, no one wants to live in the conditions imposed by the safety net. As long as the existence of a safety net d

Assuming your computer has a replaceable battery, which is not the case always. Replacing a $80 battery is worth it to avoid stress, but replacing a $2000 ultrabook may not be.

Tox[1] is aiming to fill that gap. It works, and although it hasn't been properly audited (that I know), most people agree that it's reasonably secure and anonymous. It's also completely p2p with no federation of any kind. It

iOS has its roots in web apps. The original iPhone didn't support third party apps, and Apple was pushing developers to use web technology to make apps. This attitude persisted for a long time and to an extent persists even today. When

Actually something with strong copyleft semantics might actually be more appropriate than MIT in this case (if we're already willing to legitimize the copyright system by having a license, which is necessary). If the argument is that e

Languages can abandon own std lib? Keep away from such languages. Not abandon their stdlib. Be abandoned. There is nothing more preventing developers of the compiler/vm from abandoning their efforts than the developers of a library.

As joshtriplett said in the issues, this depends on the already-unsafe ability of Rc to leak when a cycle is formed. It's just turning one form of unsafeness into a wide form. Nice to see that the team are doing what they can to about

The GPLv2 requires that all derivative works be licensed under the GPLv2 or any later version of the GPL. The maintainer can get a way with this in a way semantically equivalent to forking the project using a later version of the GPLv2. As

Bad example, but my point holds. Transducers aren't performance improvers, they're an abstraction over the process of iteration. They actually degrade performance in the absence of a particularly smart inlining compiler.

That's not why clojure has transducers. You can use a mapping transducer to express map, but it's actually going to have slightly worse performance than regular map. There's nothing inherently slow about higher order collecti
