That there is no way to recycle electronics economically is the reason that they are not recycled. I don't claim otherwise.

I would say reusing a "disposable" vape would be refilling it and recharging or exchanging the battery, not salvaging it for parts.

I once bought 100% hemp pants because I heard that material is tougher than cotton, but my bicycle seat killed the pants in just a few weeks. Modern jeans last a few months to a year. I have yet to find pants that endure a bicycle commute.

Not burning all the ICs and all the other components that still work perfectly fine would be a good start imo.

Many animals are clearly intelligent, but I can't talk to them at all.

Intelligence is not magic though. The difference between intelligence and mathematics can plausibly be the same kind of difference between chemistry and intelligence.

I’m relatively sure that electronics are not recycled properly anywhere. At best some of the metals are extracted (hopefully not by mixing the ashes with mercury).

Maybe they could use big trucks that just collect all refuse from the curb. And maybe that is something that the city should do so that we don’t have a dozen trucks collecting a dozen different trash cans from every house.

To make matters worse, recycling is a scam (with a small handful of exceptions).

Find Job openings that would plausibly hire you (no experience/degree required) and sound interesting and then train the required skills by building toy projects for a portfolio that you can attach to your CV.

More pernicious than loss of knowledge imo is loss of trust into the scientific process. „Research“ on social media is seen as superior to expert consensus by a frightening number of people.

I actually only use a laptop that maybe draws 50W peak. The FritzBox uses maybe 10W peak and I turn it off when I sleep. Warm water is probably the main difference between my household and the average German, since I get it via district hea

This reads like an ad, but the following passage stood out > the average US home consumes about 889kWh per month, or about 29.2kWh per day I assume most of that is HVAC? I use about 1500kWh a year , but I don’t need aircon and heating i

It won’t be long before climate change starts causing mass migrations and the associated conflicts. With the current unstable world order we could really do without another massive problem.
