I think the math could be corrected slightly for clarity, but the general point still holds I think: the money is not apples and oranges here. Where does the government get the $100 from? The audit isn't conducted by the government as

To ensure people are charged what they should be? I'm mind boggled that people are so centered on the business that they can't fathom a reason for anything beyond profit or other purely economic factors. To take this to ridiculous

They are welcome to reduce cash back given on their credit cards or other means of increasing profits. Something tells me that the banks and credit card companies will do just fine here with the additional cost of the audit. It's a tin

A daily reminder of how far the tech community has to go socially and morally, and hopefully a chance to help change that in a positive direction.

I'd be happy to, though I suspect it's too specific to be of use to a wider audience, and certainly could be improved as they were made out of need, not designed perfectly.

I've taken a macro course and am more or less using those formulas (and translating them into basic examples in the grandparent). Present value only does so much lifting though, as my scope is a lot wider. Life is more complicated than

Having hand rolled my own retirement calculator (excel) with a lot of other variables that seem like overkill at first, I think this is very misleading if you don't at least account for inflation. It gets complicated real quick when yo

As in it will be a lot harder to get your first job. Once you have that first position or two, it's not really trouble from there obviously. I'd also point out that the dynamics of the junior dev position and the competition have

So THAT is how they artificially increase their DAU and use time - make the user experience only tolerable if you essentially have to use the app daily and be constantly updated.

Bingo. They're going to pull the same drain and rake in money in the short term. They'll buy their next competitor and rinse/repeat.

It's hard data to get because people still have Facebook accounts, they just don't post on them. In order to get that data, Facebook would have to release it by choice, and good luck with that one. Do an experiment though. Look at
