What politics in the US government currently is or what it is in a typical discussion between two people on the street does not define politics. I'm also not talking political science. I'm also talking morality, not just politics.

The basic problem with that line of thinking is that most don't think immigration is such a large problem that we must have a zero-tolerance policy that does such harm. Immigration is a highly politicized issue that in reality has limi

I think both as tech becomes more ubiquitous, but I think the clarity is coming from a lag in perception because of the exact sentiment of "keep politics out of tech". I think a lot of programmers, particularly ones from a generat

I read this as "HN can decide that technology and morality don't ever come into conflict" and see it as both ridiculous and false. What else are all the posts about Facebook/Uber/Net Neutrality/Security about?

I really like the per error idea - allows for large cases to have no barrier to contest but for the whole thing to not become like patent trolling. Maybe also some sort of threshold for mass cases, like a progressive taxation: If you'r

Hulu is the worst goddamn experience, not even just because of ads, but the entire platform is so buggy and fragile. The Netflix playback experience is somehow still highly underrated. Amazon got the playback experience right pretty quick a

For fun, an updated version that cleans up other things as well as the ordering, not relying on signatures of lambdas, etc. https://pastebin.com/HF41J8KQ

Yeah oops coded that up quick. Either way you fix it, it’s far better than a function for calling each number of args and keeps the code readable.

I'm a big fan of first-class functions (or similar) and functional code, but lambdas are in the end just syntactic sugar. Why not just write: "!": math.factorial, The lambda wrapper isn't doing anything here.

Not fully sure but likely takes advantage of facebook/google hacks, clean machines/IP for limited articles, maybe other things, to get the full article and then extracts the text/images into a reader-like view. Bonus of no ad

Glad it helped! No idea why I'm being downvoted. I have no affiliation FYI - I post about it every so often here literally because so many people complain about paywalls...

I don't think it's meant as a nitpick but more of a "hey, you may not know this but here's a helpful thing". The comment seems to have been both worded and received in that positive way and that's a great thing

The problem is the male default. Grammatically it's fine, but when hundreds of article default to male, it has a growing effect socially. "They" or "he or she" is typically customary these days, more and more so the
