This seems to be default practice now. I also found this to be the case for Outlook accounts. After initial registration they block your account, or in the case of Outlook, disable outgoing email.

I am at this very moment switching from Fedora 29 ( I was on the early Beta) to Ubuntu because of the acquisition by IBM. It just doesn't sit right with me. Just made the last backup before plugging in the USB with Ubuntu 18.10.
