I sometimes wonder if it wouldn't be better for the test of the world if humans became extinct. Our impact is limited mostly to earth now, but if we make it into space we'll just go and ruin other planets. It's already very v

Interesting experiment, however I wonder how strictly the author was able to stick to not using anything that stores a program. Strictly speaking, this disqualifies mundane things such as riding an elevator or driving a car that was made in

Speak for yourself. My ThinkPad has 2x DVI, 1x Ethernet, 1x charger, 5x USB, 1x audio connected to the dock. It's a pain and quite a bit more than a few seconds to connect disconnect every time vs pressing the eject button.

Not sure that is a reliable indicator. How many times have you seen job openings that list under required experience years of Java, c++, JavaScript, angular, Java script, HTML, react, nosql, mongodb, and postgres all on the same line? The m

The conflict of interest is pretty obvious when you think about it. Google is in the business of getting as much data as it can on people so it can show them "relevant" ads. Would you trust organizing the elections and counting th

What a track record for this project... Two people resigning from it because of privacy issues... I am not looking forward for private companies to take over municipal government responsibilities.

Maybe things are different in the US, and your examples make sense. I don't live in the US thankfully and so I don't have to worry about these issues too much. Overall, where I live, governmental services are considerably less hel

It's true that most Lenovo laptops come with horrendous, low resolution, TN panels. Some models come with IPS variants (like the i7 x230) I guess it's fine for me because I spent most of my time in the terminal so no GUI with tons

It'd not as bad as it sounds in practice. The screen is also 12.5 inches so pixel density is ok, and if you break lines at the 80 columns mark in your code (as you should ;)), you can sit two vim windows side by side in a terminal. Jus

I use an i7 IPS x230 (ie top of the line at the time) with Linux for dev work. It's great. I have the 9 cell battery (but it's getting old, I only get 60% of the full capacity when full nowadays), and I can still achieve 6-7h on W
