I have also had ChatGPT lie to me about what I’ve previously said to it - that’s the part that actually frightens me. We have taught a machine to gaslight.

In your farmer analogy, you totally omitted that you need to consider market demand. That’s why you’re growing things in the first place. That’s not a technical decision, and totally is something the PM should understand.

First they nerfed it. Used to be able to redeem 500 points for $5. Earlier this year they replaced it with discounts, so 400 points gets you 10% off. My most expensive ride in the past year was $30, so I view this as a 25% reduction in poin

As someone who does understand the distinction, for most end-users, I think the distinction doesn’t matter. It’s like the culinary vs botanical categorization of a tomato.

I would say this is bad advice. Don’t learn base R, focus on tidyverse. Tidyverse is what people write and use.

Interesting point. 100 years ago “idiot” and “mental retardation” were medical diagnoses. 100 years from now, both the evolution of language and the advancement of medicine may similarly antiquate the term “autism.” Maybe this is a perpetua

Well the very first step would be: native R support for installing specific package versions, and sharing that with others. There’s too many third party solutions that come and go over the years. And there’s no guarantee that what you selec

R is my go-to for ad-hoc data science as well. And you’re right, deprecations are generally replaced with something nicer. From the perspective of a language used for ad-hoc analysis, these are all great features. Hadn’t thought of it that

Breaking changes in packages is not exclusive to R, you’re right. But dependency issues kinda is? Let’s say two competent analysts wrote some code 5 years ago and you need to reproduce it today, one in R and the other in Python. The Python
