The post was replying to someone with 16GB. (And also: no, even the best open weight models are not as good as what you can use on your ChatGPT subscription. They’ve gotten a lot better, but not that much better.)

Yeah, The NVIDIA Way goes into a lot of detail on how and why the pivot from graphics to AI happened. This is a prime example of “you make your own luck.” Jensen engineered an organization that was primed to recognize and pounce on the next

In my case, I dev on macOS. The env the agent runs in is the same as my dev laptop, configured and in sync. Has access to all the same tools and environment as I would on my laptop.

On the $200/mo plan I have never hit a five hour limit, and I struggle to use my full credits each week. $200/month is vastly cheaper than owning and operating comparable hardware.

Serious question: why not run DGX Spark or Framework Desktop, at 30%-50% lower cost?

That’s… not how any of this works. Five paragraphs and literally every one is wrong.

I’m not an expert on switching algorithms, but there are various algos they can use for dropping or rejecting packets, or QoS prioritization that are supposed to self limit even a poorly implemented network protocol and provide fair service

Buffer exhaustion can cause it to happen pretty quickly with some normal, non-contrived usage patterns. A 10G host sending large data to a 100M peer will cause all packets between all other peers to drop once switch memory is filled up. Ide

It is so frustrating that this can bring down the rest of the network to the lowest common denominator. I know it is the fault of a cheap switch, not the TV, but still.

I don’t know how you can say that. Anthropic’s reputation was destroyed by this, and A LOT of business deals happened before this injustice was corrected.

I don't understand though. If it's all running on the Linux VM, then you haven't inherited any of the secL4 benefits.

Are you assuming single-layer LORA fine-tuning on top? Because with open-weights you can do full back-propagation training to mold the model into whatever shape you want. For a stretched analogy, I think it is more like LEGO sets. Someone h

But training is not deterministic. The same training run on the same input can result in very different models. And even if you ignore the intrinsically stochastic part of training, the effort of creating a model is ad-hoc and involving hum

That’s not how it works though. Two training runs on the same data don’t produce the same weights. And if you want to modify the AI, you do so by fine tuning the weights not rerunning training. In every respect that matters, the weights are

This viewpoint doesn't make any sense to me. The weights + inference code are the "source code" for AI. I literally don't know what else you are demanding for the "open source" label.

Separate accounts for work and personal projects is ok. Using multiple accounts to bypass usage limits for the same project is explicitly against ToS. One of Anthropic’s problems though is that the legalese will say one thing, while key emp
