Maybe. But it’s also slightly more nuanced. Honda for example works like this. One press of the remote, locks all the doors. The second press will beep the horn if all the doors are successfully locked. If you left one of the doors op

Before doing the switchover they might have lowered the TTL to something like 5s, which greatly increases the chance the TTL in the resolver cache would expire during the switchover. And then the ISP probably did set a longer than normal TT

FWIW, you can get a replacement battery for these for under $100. https://www.ifixit.com/Store/Mac It's not super easy to replace, but if you're comfortable with a screw driver, it shouldn't pose much of

Cars do have accurate weight sensors actually. I’m a former Honda Master Technician. The drivers seat on Honda’s from probably mid 2000 onward have a weight sensor. It’s used to determine the deployment for the multi stage airbags. I hoo

Make it enough that most people wouldn’t want to freely take themselves out of the rotation and take the loss, if they had the option. I’m on a 5 person team, and we rotate weekly. $500 per shift. So that’s $5000 per year. I hate on cal

Awesome. This is going to hurt advertisers. This is pretty much the only reason I’ve clicked on an ad in years. :)

I was also asked about my Zodiac sign. I was shocked. A credit reporting company using that is just appalling.

It can, however, create so much smoke, that you won't be able to see much in front of you as the smoke pours out from under the hood, and leaves an oily film all over your windscreen.

I know gmail is different than search, but if you do a quoted search for a string in gmail that has zero matches, it will return a few "close" matches. This really confused me, because I was trying to find something specific, and

the 1 -> 6 jump was because they decided to drop the first number. Yes, they had reasons, but changing version schemas twice in a couple years is a great way to confuse people in the interest of just doing whatever the author likes.

> Let's allow the first number to advance at whatever rate you like This is what I feel like Pip did. https://pip.pypa.io/en/stable/news/ it went from 1.5.6 to 6.0, and later from 10.0.1 to 18.0. Ok.

In that case you are using the root servers as your upstream. That’s the point I was trying to make, but I guess I didn’t explain it well. :/

I know all that. IMHO in that configuration the root servers are your upstream servers. That’s what I was trying to convey. And serving expired records does generally work, but is not suggested practice.

That's great and all, but you still need to pick an upstream DNS server. The conventional advice is to use one of these public services, or your ISP's resolvers, to avoid hitting the root servers constantly. A lot of services th
