I have to stop and comment on parent's behavior. You saw a comment that was poorly written and took on the job to rewrite and extract the good part so it could be understood by the general public. It's such a nice gesture and at t

I concur. I also happen to run a business and although I employ almost a hundred people I have never let my eyes of the "tape". I trust my team and owe a great amount to them for helping run the business. But if they make a mistak

I'm curious about this. Why the recap email was so important? What did it cover that the LOI didn't?

I doubt this very much myself too! I little wishful thinking to be honest. However you're arguing as if new competitors had to monetize the same way Google does and that's not the only game available. Imagine a competitor that doe

I'm pleasantly surprised by the high quality of your top results. That shows the search algorithms (whatever your choice was) are good enough and Google can be eventually disrupted. As a fellow software engineer I'm curious about

I second this. The fulfillment of doing work as a contractor and being the owner of my future is invaluable. I have been working for 15+ years as consultant and contractor for a SP500 company and I have several friends that are FTE there. O

I wish other social networks could offer different views on their feed. Imagine being able to navigate Facebook by location or maybe by your friends network graph. I liked when feeds used to be predictable and time based but I guess the mon

Looks like a novel way to share content to me. Usability can be improved but I feel you have nailed the UI/UX for a MVP. Features can be added but you need to launch quickly rather than cook it for too long without exposing to the real

This is only true for large companies that care about nothing but their shareholders and quarterly reports. There's another group of companies that not only care about delivering real value within the budget, but also have fun while do

Pretty sure in a few years people will have to name their kids John Notrack Doe as the only way to have FB stop ghosting them.

I think the problem here is that a lot of people (myself included) will understand the term "office hours" as being the typical time window that people work in the office - i.e. 8am to 5pm. This might be exacerbated with non-nativ

I got into a very similar conversation with Chase's robo call the other day. Went like this: C: bla bla bla, if you want to speak to a representative say "representative". Me: representative C: sorry i couldn't understan

This reminds me of an interesting story. A couple years ago I was trying to sell my broken x1 carbon laptop in ebay. I was looking for $400 and after posting and getting a few questions I realized I would not be able to close the sale becau

I also came to the US deciding to leave my country and relatives behind for the exact same reason. Once you have kids your perspective changes and security of your family is much more important than money or work. The crimes you see in my c

I run a successful software consulting company and failed miserably when tried to sell it about 3 years ago. Can you share any insights on how that process worked out for you? Any tips on how to find potential buyers?

This is not my experience at all. If you know what you're doing is relatively easy to avoid the pitfalls you described. Working with f500 companies is very good business if you have the reputation to push back on their crazy deadlines

I find your comment very accurate of the status quo when you look at dev consulting companies at large. The funny thing is: I started my software engineer career working for a large consulting firm and my frustration with the whole game was
