I had my first startup fail in the late 2000s because we built a sales prediction software that sounded cool, but nobody actually wanted. We even had a large paid pilot with a major auto manufacturer, but they didn't renew when it turn

I really wish that book was a little cheaper. It looks really interesting and I've had my eye on it for months, but there aren't really any used copies of it floating around to bring down the price.

Yes, the transpiler (though everybody is already bundling these days). I really like JSX, though it's not everybody's cup of tea. I also think other folks in this thread are referring to mounting on existing DOM in jQuery-esque us

Why is RISC-V bad? You spend paragraphs ripping on it without actually explaining why it's bad.

I appreciate the clarity in code — I'm asking for `betamaxinv` I think? >>> betamax((3, 14), (4, 12)) 0.29448379324802676 >>> betamaxinv(0.29, allowed_error=0.01) [((3, 14), (4, 12)), ...] I assu

Maybe I'm an idiot, but I thought he showed how to evaluate "P(B > A)" given A ~ Beta(2,13) and B ~ Beta(3,11). What I'm asking is: how do you find parameters for A and B given "P(B > A) = 0.71"?

That makes sense in the analytic case, but you mean in the monte-carlo case? I presume just 4D Newton's method on the final integral over the pdf_X to get the value we're looking for? It makes sense, I'm just surprised the bl

Did the post ever actually answer the question: > this is an awesome example. is there an easy way (as in non-brute force) to finding the beta parameters that'll match a probability?

Titano is nice, but may have some trademark issues. Tanobo is easy to say, if a bit generic. Just playing with syllables.

In general it's an amazing time to be a computer hardware consumer. There's real competition in pretty much every primary component hardware vertical. The spinning rust data storage market has been uniquely crappy of late. The ske

The moment I saw that name I wondered the same thing. It would be cool to be running in the same internet circles as Ed Catmull. I'm in awe of his contributions to both computer graphics and Pixar, and I really liked his management boo

Completely agree. The same thing pops up with filenames, as well as many automation tools where functions end up being commands. Python's fabric for example has a help function that dumps out possible commands in alphabetical order...

My biggest challenge with immer has been that my code aesthetic taste leans functional, but immer makes code look imperative even if it is ultimately functional. Always looks a little wrong to my eye!
