Do you mean review your idea? Because this isn't a startup yet--the app hasn't even launched. How does this differ from Olark? [0] [0] http://www.olark.com/

I think you were downvoted because parent made an additional, valid point. The whole single-word-as-sentence cliche ("It. Just. Works.") is equally annoying and stopped suggesting a quirky/unique author years ago.

Was about to post price comparisons but YEESH Apple is selling 256GB SSDs [0] for $200 more than Crucial SSDs on NewEgg. [1] [0] http://store.apple.com/us/configure/MD318LL/A?select=select&... [1] http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as

Try to stop by General Assembly. As the largest coworking space in Manhattan, you'll see a lot of early-stage work taking place. They also offer classes and workshops on different topics (for a fee).

I think he's making a point about components and the laptop's manufacturing: even if you do find a Dell with components that compare to a MBP, that Dell is made of cheap plastic with a WiFi antenna that works intermittently, comes with bloa

I agree with you about a lot of things, but this isn't one of them. That title implies a number of things. Personally, I read it and thought "RTM managed to jailbreak Siri and teach it how to interact with a third-party API!!" That was a ve

I'm shocked that you inferred as much from his quote. He's notoriously vague (because he's not actually saying anything), and after re-reading the quote I'm not sure where you got the "growth" part from.

If you're going to listen to a Friedman talk about economics, make it Milton. Quoting Thomas Friedman is an exercise in pop sociology and buzzword-dropping. Invention is not a necessary or sufficient condition for prosperity. You can arrive

Cool app. Am I the only one that's overwhelmed by the home page, though? The "get TouchBase" button is clear enough, but after a minute my eyes have been redirected everywhere and I still don't know if TouchBase has a decent day/week/month

Apple had lots of cash on hand when they agreed to a $4 billion component deal.[0] We don't know what the component is (Gruber speculates Apple bought screens), but cash on hand makes these bulk component purchases much easier. Operations-r

I've got a question for my fellow long-form-reading HNers. I check my phone for quick hits of information, but I hate reading long-form articles on it. Do you guys know of any "Send to Kindle" apps or bookmarklets for iPhone/iOS? I know, I

While you make your opinion harshly, I have to agree completely. Marco is an intelligent, driven guy who has been successful with Instapaper. It's a shame to hear him complain so much, and I've stopped listening to Build & Analyze as a

I saw my first Unix prompt two years ago, nested inside of this editor called "Emacs." In my 23 years I had only programmed conditionals in Excel, and now I was responsible for using this system to maintain some of the most important econom

You know what provides that atmosphere? New York. Or SF. Or Boston, Seattle, Austin--pretty much any city. Ignoring that many people don't live near large cities like these, how should a 17-year old support themselves? What would they do

Congratulations to Cloudant for signing a big deal. Why work with a company as...ethically ambiguous as Monsanto? I would love to hear how your team decided to accept this deal, and I hope more than dollar signs crossed your minds. Personal

OP, some portable, ready-to-eat advice for you: ditch the loser friends who don't want to take risks, explain your decision to your father and ask for support, and find a job again if money is an issue. You're 20. When I was 20 I hadn't wor

Not to get too nitpicky here, but bookmarking twitter.com/longreads and reading excellent long-form articles on the go is an excellent Kindle use case. This was another selling point for me over the NST.
