Form my own POV you’re correct. The market is good, salary offers I get are normal, everything I see looks like the pre-2020 market to me. A lot of these reddit CS subs are full of kids who are either still in college or graduated into the

Your viewpoint is very American and very Protestant. A lot of these things you call changes I saw as a regular feature in the evangelical south in the early 00s. Going to “basic tenets” and doubling down on sola scriptura is just fundamenta

Those are evangelicals. It goes back to the problem of Protestantism’s sola scriptura philosophy, rejecting 1500 years of theological inquiry and study - something that didn’t happen with Orthodoxy or Catholicism.

This is the only real takeaway of the article. “I don’t like this because it’s new to me, therefore it’s universally bad.” I live in Boston and there was a similar freakout about the gas lamps in Beacon Hill being replaced by LEDs. Not a si

The article hadn’t been published (it says so in the article), she escaped retraction because it came up before it was published. In fact it reads as if it hadn’t even been submitted yet and was still being written.

For many labs, there are no resources, time, or ability to rerun every bit of data collection that happens. When I was in academia, our lab had a hard enough time recruiting participants (we were a cog neuro lab) and our experiments were se

I'm a bit late, but me and some friends I met over Reddit built a meme stock exchange in 2017. This was a game that would price meme stocks based on how much engagement some meme (or variants) were getting on social media in realtime.

The vast majority of work I’ve done at startups of all sizes has been greenfield. The key is not looking at projects as “getting” them, but as recognizing a need, sketching out something that fulfills those needs, and rallying buy-in for th
