Fair enough :) Yeah, as I've been redoing our docs, I've really tried to emphasize the "take some time to decide if you _really_ need Redux" aspect: https://redux.js.org/tutorials/essentials/par

Not sure what you mean by the "pretends" statement. Both the Redux core and Redux Toolkit _are_ completely UI-agnostic, and can be used with _any_ UI layer or even standalone. Yes, most Redux usage is with React, and we do orient

FWIW, that's not an `npm` vs `yarn` thing. That's a "Node has only recently added support for ES module syntax and it's still mostly experimental" thing: - https://nodejs.org/api/esm.html - h

There's `blessed` [0], a plain JS lib similar to `ncurses`. There's also `react-blessed` [1], which is a React renderer that targets `blessed` as the display layer, and `ink` [2], which is also a text-based React renderer but usi

Eh, I built one GWT app by myself in 2011-12, maybe 40K lines of GWT code. First web app I'd ever worked on - all my existing experience was desktop (C#, C++, Java, Python). It worked as advertised, and let me build something useful.

Agreed. We get a lot of these posts submitted to /r/reactjs . The only ones I find to be halfway decent are from LogRocket - the posts are usually of reasonable technical quality and on topic. All the other examples I see are ver

This is frankly a rather mediocre article, and exists more as a plug for a company's service than really useful advice. For one thing, with function components there is no `this`, so tip #2 is useless (and this is especially odd given

Yeah, that's one of my ongoing frustrations as a maintainer :) I've always gone straight to a tool's docs when I want to start learning it. I look for other sources, too, but I start with the docs, and I always assumed othe

Absolutely. One of my strongest opinions about TS is that you should use it pragmatically. It's not worth burning hours of time trying to placate the TS compiler if you know the code works okay - throwing in a `type $FixTypeLater = any

You're welcome! We've actually gotten many compliments about our docs over the years, but per that "Overview" issue, there's a lot of improvements that can be done. Also, "modern Redux" code with Redux To

I've been working on an ongoing rewrite for the Redux core docs [0], including writing a couple brand new comprehensive tutorials from scratch [1]. In the process, I collected a bunch of notes and resources on useful docs writing advi

Honestly, I can't remember at this point. It had something to do with the use of AJAX overall, and a GET request via XHR specifically, but this was many years ago and I don't know what the specific finding description was.

Heh. I once had a security warning from a static analysis tool that did not like my use of `xhr.open("GET")`, flagging it as a security risk. I worked around it with: var method = ["T", "E", "G"

Yeah, the Redux docs and example projects showed "folder-by-type" for years ( `/reducers`, `/actions`, etc). But, as part of the ongoing Redux docs rewrite, we now specifically recommend "folder-by-feature" in

The phrasing on that statement sounds a bit off, and I'm not sure whether it's a real misunderstanding of how React works or just the way the sentence is written. React re-renders components recursively by default. If I call `set

Not sure I agree with this statement. The Redux core by itself doesn't really introduce abstractions. A reducer is just a function. An action is just an object. They're not abstractions, just a particular usage pattern.

Hi, I'm a Redux maintainer. Please note that "modern Redux" code is very different than what most older tutorials show. We've introduced newer APIs like Redux Toolkit, which is a set of utilities that provide a light abs

Sure. For RTK specifically, I recommend reading the "Modern Redux with Redux Toolkit" section of the recently rewritten "Redux Fundamentals" core docs tutorial, which shows how RTK simplifies common Redux usage patterns:

React Query is pretty cool. I haven't used it in my own projects, but based on all the discussion I've seen, it looks like a solid choice. Meanwhile, we in the Redux team recently published an alpha library that we've dubbed

Yep. The OP submitted a similar thread earlier today about 50% of external React PRs being rejected, and I left a comment saying that it's a combo of the React codebase being complex and most external PRs being junk or irrelevant.

Not terribly surprising, if you look at the PRs list. The React codebase is very complex, and so there are very few substantial PRs from people not on the React team. Really, most of the external PRs tend to be noise, and many of them are
