I hope so! No offence but tape sounds like garbage compared to MD. Not to mention the features of md and way better than tape.

I’ve used my Sony desktop md deck as a soundcard a bunch. Optical out of my Mac Pro (under the desk) into the MD unit, this use my headphones out of that (my headphones don’t reach the audio jack on my Mac Pro). Such a clear sound!

All of this is so cool. I’m in Australia so minidisc gear is still damn expensive here. Having said that I have a marantz cm6000 that can auto rip a CD. Sadly the minidisc half doesn’t record anymore :( I have to put in the metadata on my o

Thank you and everyone on the team. You changed music. Full stop. You gave us what we wanted. Full stop. We love you for your work.

Honestly I tried to read as much of that as I could (starting after the long descriptions of their projects) and I struggled to understand the issue. Is it that the development team of VCV are bad as maintaining the online platform for VCV

It’s honestly one of my favourite bits of software these days. Feels very respectful and responsive. I tired logic and ableton. Both are great tools but a bit janky. Never though I’d say I love a Java program but they did a really really go

As a part time nerd that’s falling behind on how to use ever changing tools, I started to fear homebrew. I just didn’t get how it worked. Then I used macports. What a nice experience. Provided what I’m after is listen on there!

I might be remembering the situation wrong, but I think you’re mistaken. Sony made music discs that would fuck your computer up and install software without you knowing or consent. Also in the early days cd drives were wired up to the sound

There is a way to use apples Rosetta translation layer, through the vm, to run x86 binaries on arm Linux. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/virtualization/run...

The article mentions that they are using virtualisation (arm Linux and Windows on Arm MacOS and M1) not emulation (Ubuntu and Debian x86 by emulation on arm on MacOS and m1). Emulation is slow sadly. Virtualisation is approaching native spe

This has motivated me to learn more about my Pinecil than ever before. I’ve always known it’s open hardware and software and just used it as an iron. Thank you! Edit: love that <1MB file size!

Thank you very much for your work. As someone who constantly struggle to get music theory as an adult (mostly lack of practice I know, but sometimes life takes over) having as many different resources as possible really helps.

Regarding fonts, I feel like when I modded my original Xbox as a teen, it was done using malicious font files on the hdd for the Xbox dashboard haha.

I always thought Zelda: Breath of the Wild did this really well. The game generally doesn’t have music during world traversal. Slight piano motifs here and there. You could get the music change and the scenario was changing, either a town o

Lol your friend ruined the disc by not handling it correctly. Trust me, I did the same thing with my friends 4 disc copy of diable 2. I remember while waiting for the discs to burn I was playing with the old one. I had it in the case and I

I signed up. This is a thing I would love! A smaller plan would be great or a yearly cost. I pay for subsonic ($12/yr) and would love a remote service for my music host. It’s the main reason I leave my tower on 24/7! Great project

It sort of reminds me of the posts that John Gruber has been making pointing out the differences in laptop review between pcs and macs. They get reviewed on entirely different scales. Here’s a quote from the verge: “For one, I only averaged

There is emulation of WiiU titles which might save you the cost. I can honestly say that the WiiU is worth it. It’s nice playing games that don’t have all the boring and time wasting tactics that modern games have. But that’s just me. I pla

Is that sort of code able to ‘just run’ on their arc series of GPUs? It feels like intel kinda hates AVX512 on the cpu side (or wants to upsell you for it) so I’m wondering if they turned those cards into their GPUs

Brilliant. I’m someone who has lofi playing most of the day at work or at home in the calmer times. I use an old JBL Bluetooth speaker that i found on the side of the road. Must be 10 years old. It distorts a bit at 75% volume which I like.
