From what I looked at in the past, they seem better on paper by comparing themselves to a very old version of Redis in a rigged scenario (no clustering or multithreading applied despite Drangonfly getting multithreading enabled), and they a

Any reason to use this over Valkey, which is now faster than Redis and community driven? Genuinely interested.

I only really thought of repackaging Firefox to avoid their new ToS, a tiny set of patches should be very maintainable.

Waterfox seemed a bit too opinionated as well, especially in terms of extra code, weird versioning, patch delays.

Like I need to watch DRM for my job, and it doesn't work at all. I also already ported most of their configs that I actually researched each and every line of myself + Waterfox + Arkenfox's configs into my generic Mozilla Firefox,

They made too many decisions on their own to be a 1:1 replacement. I think there needs to be a new fork, which would just remove all of the spyware bits.

It's mostly suitable for either modern DX12 games at medium settings or computations. No proper gaming at 1440p, even 4060ti can't do it.

I mean, even if it's not a tech company, this process takes years and can be achieved only with a ton of experience.

That's a cool one, thanks, I find RockDB-like solutions a very nice niche for performance computing (e.g. ClickHouse, erigon), but I think with all the backing by huge corporations, Valkey will be the replacement for Redis.

I switched to Valkey, and not looking back. It's actively maintained and compatible with Redis so far.

I have to flag the post: 1) It is encrypted, if you initiate an encrypted chat, which is not the default. 2) The clients are open source, you can even write your own TUI around the API.

I don't hate on Emacs in general, even more so I'm quite happy to learn about it's features and great plugins, but that'd mean a decent time investment. From my side, I'm generally a slow learner too, it took me a f

Don't get me wrong, I do get and appreciate the "complete package" and "customize everything" approaches followed by Emacs, but Emacs is often not the best tool for the job, if you work in a team. You've mentio

fail2ban is fine for a small VPS, but it is very slow, less necessary for key based authentication (passwords shouldn't be used, unless absolutely required) and shouldn't be used on high load systems, with that said, I've see

If I leapfrog over my generally cold attitude towards Lisp-like languages and my habit of Vim keys, the main problem is Emacs's sluggishness, even if it is natively compiled. Neovim fully packed with plugins, LSPs, settings and etc wit

Looks kinda poorly written: not even a single async present, print debugging, deepcopy all over the place. Such a shame that there's nothing to replace Langchain with other than writing it all from the ground up yourself.

I do like "just" being suggested, but I strongly prefer using a very simple bash run script for tasks that do not require "make"'s extras, especially given that most modern build tools do parallelism and artifact ca

I've tried running 3B LLAMA on my old machine and it was sluggish and kinda bad, but Claude 3.5 Sonnet works great. I will try the 70B model, should be good enough.

Good job at creating more competition, but sorry for being a little bit rude, most software forks die out, try to convince me using this instead of Continue + Claude-dev, which are open source extensions for the vanilla VSCode (or VSCodium)

React, Shadcn, Vercel, Railway and TailwindCSS are surely not the tools to perform "over-engineering" with, they allow for fast delivery of products and are very commonly used.
