A suggestion: try to use BetterDisplay’s HiDPI in reverse, rendering your 1440p monitor as 2880p (macOS Retina), then downsampling it to the native 1440p. There's an entry about it on their GitHub Wiki, look for "HiDPI, LoDPI"

4K at 15" is 294 dpi. I'm very surprised to hear that you can see pixels at that density at a normal laptop screen viewing distance. My laptop is 'only' at 226dpi (16") and I can't see pixels unless I bring my
