When I was a kid, a single phone line was shared between 3 or so homes. If you picked up the phone and heard the neighbors talking, you said sorry and hung up and waited for a while before trying again. When the phone rang, the ring was mor

All good questions, but irrelevant to the point you are refuting. With a public health system, medical care is tied to the country's wealth - not to any individual. In my country, a government body negotiates with the drug companies on

I cannot imagine building auth into a system now without using Keycloak. It's a comprehensive platform for sure, which makes for some pretty intense concepts and documentation. But once you lay your hands on a suitable tutorial it'

You've made it fairly clear which camp you are in by the framing of your "falsehoods". Masks primarily protect others, so whether they protect you is a secondary question. And no-one (with any credibility) is really stating a

Everything in life is about risk vs reward. Platform lock in is a risk. The reward is faster time to market, thus making more money earlier, thus having more means to ameliorate your risks.

Yeah, no shit, it's hard to get things like referential integrity and transactions working at scale, it takes many genius engineers and many years. A better title would be: Feature Casualties of Large Databases (except for old-fashione

Treating APIs as the same as GUIs means introducing discoverability, the primary advantage of GUIs over e.g command line. Discoverability in an API would normally imply HATEOAS / hypermedia, the altar at which REST zealots worship. But
