Yeah, like, why should I give a copy of my passport to sellers? It’s not norm. It could be used by a disgruntled employee for identity theft. Or they dump them in an insecure location that is breached.

The way that works in crypto is that, you generate a private key (such as an SSH or GPG key) from a mnemonic passphrase and punch/engrave those words on a metal plate.

I removed the apt version of the Firefox, and installed the snap version. The idea is that the snap is sandboxed and more secure. The speed is OK (I don’t measure it in mili seconds though).

I’m not sure if I understand this correctly, but, this basically seems to be a CA, with SSO-type of proof of identity, short lived certificates and transparency logs? How an OIDC identity is obtained and secured is not treated. It brings us

Aren’t Zoom and Google meet end to end encrypted? Google might still track IPs finds out who talks to whom, but that’s doable via any interaction.

Ubuntu is an excellent open source operating system available at no cost. Companies pay developers write software, and have to survive. Sometimes they notify users of the available upgrades, in case someone is interested. That makes perfect

Sequoia PGP is pretty nice, but the issue is not so much the signature/encryption library, or even the interface, but the key management (after all, as far as the end users are concerned, PGP signing and encryption are simple commands)

RT has consistently performed well for decades, relative to the market and even other best hedge funds. Is it known what’s the secret sauce of the medallion fund? I mean at a high level, because I know the details are probably well guarded.

The location data and call information is available to the cellular service provider and governments for anyone. In that sense, everyone is under surveillance. Anything more than that (like asking Apple for help, or getting into the phone)?

The most secure option is probably Password Store with a PGP key on Yubikey, in my view. There is also Passage, which is a similar offering, but I have problems with Yubikey PIV PIN caching (and prefer CV25519 to NIST curves).
