Beautiful work. Seems like this would be great for teaching kids to program.

The example (and code) are below the fold on a 1440 laptop. I didn't even realize they were there. That is absolutely the most important thing for a library. First page, right after the name. A functional example of what it does. That huge

Put a working example or at least a screenshot on that first page. I don't have time to download a zip file and blah blah blah to see what you made. Make it easy.

I thought it was interesting that Apple, who is usually so finicky about things being just so, apparently didn't filter or edit this data set. To me, it took away from the experience, and kind of muddled the emotion I expect Apple - and the

Hm, I would have expected them to be minimally edited. Lots of misspellings, typos, and weird grammar. I know you want it to be authentic, but that doesn't preclude basic editing.

I interpret it this way: As programmers, it is easy for us to get wrapped up in the act of programming, and to forget about the point of programming: to solve problems as quickly, cheaply, robustly, and maintainably as possible. Software de

You recall incorrectly. Chrome does not send the URLs of pages you visit to Google for indexing, or for any other reason. Please see the privacy policy. It answers these questions quite clearly: http://www.google.com/intl/en/privacy/

If you can do this reliably, you should start a business. Common knowledge is that hiring programmers is insanely difficult. If you have a gift for it, you could make craptonnes of money!

aayra (who replied to great-grandparent) works on Chrome security team. It looks like all the bugs that are still closed are WebKit bugs (css, svg, etc), and we don't open them until the other WebKit clients are updated.

Of the 15 bugs there, 9 are open now. I'll poke someone more knowledgable and ask them to explain why the others have not been opened. I could imagine that it's that the process for unlocking them is manual and easy to forget, or it could b

What? Firstly, there are several improvements: http://chrome.blogspot.com/2011/09/new-stable-release-of-chr... Secondly, Firefox's new release is the same as Chrome's. Every six weeks, like clockwork. More releases, less big features in e

I think the release managers usually unlock security bugs for a release once most of the population has been updated. So check back in a few days to a week.

Use an actual device, not the emulator. The emulator is super slow, but with an actual device you can have 30s iteration times. Edit: I know 30s is still nowhere near ideal. Hell, on Linux Chromium (a massive project) we have faster iterati

Sorry for slow response. I sure wish HN would mail me when people comment. Sure, the updater can break itself. But in practice, you rarely update the updater because the majority of the features you might want to update are in the app, not

Sandboxing is important on normal desktop browsers because downloading native apps off the internet and running them is incredibly unsafe for normal users. The more that can run in the browser's sandbox, the better for users. As for compari
