Here's a simple way to get into the journaling habit. Add to your bashrc the alias: alias today="vim $PATH/$(date +"%Y-%m-%d").txt" Substitute vim with your editor of choice. Will automatically generate a new t

Got me to laugh too! I thought I was clever with my O(n) solution. Let A be the original array and let B be the sorted array. Just loop through A and assign B[A[i]] = A[i]. But this is still dumb! lol.

It's a genuine thing for people these days to misuse the phrase "exponential growth" when they just mean "really fast grow". I don't the hyperbole was strictly intended.

You are right, I should have qualified my statement with that. But given that the modern global language is (for the time) English, I would suspect my belief is more likely true for native English speakers.

I am of the opinion that many people who want to learn a language don't have any real reason to learn a second language other than to say they know two languages. Unless you have extended family or somehow became smitten with a foreign

I tried blocking the blowhards, but it didn't work. Problem was retweets and the 10% of the time someone sane decided to tweet something insane. Hard to counter that. My feed was just too leaky. So I quit. Things seemed to change aroun

I still get goosebumps remembering the scene in "journey to the center of the earth" when they see a human figure lumbering across the cavern. Paris in the 20th century was also really cool to read. Almost every Jules Verne book h

So don't worry about groups of species (like gulls or pigeons) and just learn to recognize them as a pigeon or gull. UNLESS you happen to see a lot of different kinds of those species. You'll probably find a lot of house sparrows

If you haven't taken up bird watching as a hobby, you should absolutely do it. You know that feeling of playing runescape or minecraft or some other game and finding that one rare item? Birding is like that, except in real life. I have

You may not be rabid in opposition to religion or caustic towards personal adherents--that's not what I had in mind--but your second paragraph to me clearly reads as anti-religion. Apocalyptic teachings or teachings that the church wil

There are numerous rich disciples of Jesus. It is not clear that all of them gave away all of their wealth. You are correct that love of money and possessions is crucial concern as a Christian, and that Christians are taught to rely on the

I am responding primarily to "Churches should go back to being churches. No reason a religious organization needs a 100 billion warchest." Presumably, the person who wrote this is against religion/mormonism/christianity.

The tiresome argument is that "organization I don't like has a lot of money... they should stop having a lot of money!" There may be a plethora of valid reasons to dislike the organization, but it doesn't follow that the

Nobody creates a ledger in their accounting books called "money from bribes". At the very least, you can argue there is a conflict of interest.

It's kinda funny how we selectively care. Usually we only care about the things we feel we could be good at. Someone like Lebron James has a lot more status than I ever will. But I just don't care because I have never been good
