I think the old ThinkPad keyboards are gone forever now. All models are chiclet.

I've been using the trackpoint for so long that the trackpad seems hard to use to me. I always disable the trackpad but I fear someday thinkpads might drop the trackpoint altogether as I don't see many people using them.

I was actually wondering with all these new languages like zig, Odin and v are there any that produce dependency free binaries. I've done some work in rust, c++, and nim before. But looking at some of the comments here and rethinking t

I was looking to distribute small cli tools easily. I guess packaging them through the relevant package manager is a better option from a security perspective as opposed to a big static binary.

I was looking for languages which produce binaries which are self contained (in terms of being statically linked OR dynamically linked with few dependencies) close to what go produces, out of a default build process. I guess with musl C, C+

Intellij's Alt-J (multi-select) and Ctrl-W (progressive select) are the most productive for me.

Thanks for mentioning this, I hadn't seen it mentioned anywhere before in my (admittedly shallow) research.

Thanks for all your work on code-d. I don't have a lot of experience with d but I really like the development experience that your plug-in provides, it certainly made things easier to learn as a beginner.

I just disable the trackpad in all my laptops, I find it much harder to use than a trackpoint.

Thanks, I was looking for standalone distribution (something like go) but this looks quite interesting and may be a good alternative.

Interestingly apart from the ruby like syntax they seem to be quite different languages from my limited exposure, in terms of the domains they target (elixir - distributed systems, crystal - whatever go/rust are known for minus distrib

I assume you don't have to use sbt builds because you use mill? Also you mentioned command line tools. Any chance you could elaborate on how you distribute them? Thanks

I just finished Shogun and The Terror one after the other. The reason I liked these is that I found the dogged determination of the respective captains in the face of adversity (especially in The Terror) inspirational.

Possibly unrelated but https://nim-lang.org/ has a syntax somewhat similar to python (and pascal), and has a static type system (plus generics). It compiles to multiple languages like C, C++ and JS and can produce native bi

IMO Hotstar is not orders of magnitude better in terms of content. Prime has big sitcoms like the office, 30 rock, seinfeld etc. Their B&W and 60s/70s movie catalog is also much larger than any other services.

I wouldn't call Go a systems programming language. Having a GC alone sort of removes it from that category.
