The main benefit is that adding/removing items to/from a list requires no heap operations. All control elements are basically preallocated.

He should've given bvckup2 a try. Asynchronous IO, multithreaded for smaller files, serialized when they are big, block-level delta copying on subsequent runs. Pretty much as fast as it gets on Windows.

It is vastly superior to Khan. Had my kids go through both, so can compare. That said, on higher levels there's some cruft that trains mechanical skills, and that's on subjects that are needed only in the scope of the US system. F
