And yet, the percentage of Java programmers using clojure is less than 1%. Looked at another way, how many applications need the fast startup time, and why can’t they be run in a daemon?

Yeah, was talking about pumping water up an existing installation. Looks like it is already used - 94% of all stored energy in US now comes from hydro, according to your link 2. ATM, it is cheaper too

Can't we just run an existing dam in reverse to store energy?

I can tell you what limited my confidence as a programmer. It was correctness, or knowing how to deal with stuff so I don't have to check every line of code once I implemented something new that uses the old stuff in a novel way. For s

Can't tell your post is sarcastic or not. Good reads is a valuable resource, especially for avid readers - without it I wouldn't have read as many good books as I did.

If your commute is less than 100 miles, you have nothing to worry, if you get a proper charger at home. Owned Tesla for 3.5 years with 60 mile commute, it has been very nice.

Yeah. Majority of marriages even today are arranged by the family and it becomes impersonal and somewhat crassly practical. Choices are sorted by their family's net worth, social standing, color(darker complexion is looked down), age a

It was like that in India too. Some social critics and authors back in late 19th and early 20th century changed that practice. Dowry started as a pocket-money for the girl, when she leaves her parent's house to go with her husband, bec

The impact of this has been felt for more than a decade now. Many of my friends had trouble finding brides, despite being nothing wrong with them - as a result, some of my friends were never married and are in their 40s now. It is absolutel

I think you may be in denial. Douglas Hosftadter thought very deeply about it, wrote a book(GEB) which won a pulitzer 40 years ago, about the "magic" in the brain. He has been worried about developments in AI for 5 years now.

It emphatically does. It has pull-syntax just for the nested entities obviating the need for ORM. I am surprised I had to scroll so far down to see this. This is its biggest selling point IMO.

Lol. That's all true. By caring about the planet, we care about ourselves. Planet can survive like another forsaken rock in space - nobody is arguing with that.

Buddhist philosophy is practical and seems some what out of sync with the Hindu thought at that time. Buddha lived around the same time as Socrates. I can't help but wonder if some of the ideas were not cross-pollinated. Don't get
