Thunderbird works very well for me and with the new (to me?) CalDAV/CardDAV plugins, it is able to sync with my remote repo seamlessly for appointments and contacts in addition to email. I recommend it highly.

I believe the Alpine Linux install for the RPi runs in memory with ability to call `lbu_commit` to update the SD card. I haven't tried it yet but hopefully will have it going by tomorrow.

Agree on the sidewalk clutter - they are starting to turn into a nuisance in Austin downtown. I had to move two, parked side by side, on a sidewalk. My attempt to move them resulted in them squealing, causing me to feel like a thief for jus

Well, I would prefer the scanned book to preserve my notes and markings so I appreciated the scanning from original. I suspect there might be a copyright reason as well but not sure.

I converted my entire collection of physical books to e-books by using a scanning service that scanned them destructively (spine removal.) It was super empowering to dispose of 50 boxfuls of physical books with content that can fit on a few

(I promise, I am not shilling) Meetup (meetup.com) lets you make a group for I think $20/month (group participants can contribute to help the organizer) and is perfect for organizing events, sending calendar invites, providing a group

Meetup (meetup.com) works pretty well for event organizing. I have used it to keep up with local tech groups to attend their events.

This is an intriguing choice that I have kept an eye on for a while. However, the source is mostly open-source with some partner bits closed source [1]. Still a great choice, particularly since it has tethering available. Edit: Review link:

My experience in my multiple Montreal soujourns has been so different that I consider the Metro to be a jewel. I admit that some stations are grungier than others (once I had to duck an errant basketball at Cote-des-Neiges) but that was onc

I think you are right. Their per barrel production costs were < $10 in 2016 and seem to be the lowest of all the producers [1]. When the price per barrel over the last couple of years was under $30, the US fracking industry lost quite a

I published an app on F-Droid once: it is a very light-weight process. One gives them access to the open source repo where the code is with build instructions and they then take care of pulling updates and publishing new versions.

You don't need root to run F-Droid, just enable 'Untrusted Applications' in Settings, which I think is what you meant by third party code. The core reason I prefer F-Droid is that apps on it are not bundled with Play Store AP
