Republican money tends to be generally effective. The threat of withholding the same will certainly work to bring them more in line. Also, https://www.axios.com/trump-ginsburg-supreme-court-10bf5f37-... .

If you are thinking about Senator Susan "Concerned" Collins and etc., you are pining for fool's gold. They make token noise and then comply.

You accuse me of pessimistic gut feeling while laying out yours. The election outcome is far far far from certain. I used to deal with coworkers who were similarly smug in 2016 and they were proven to be equally wrong.

It really does seem the cosmos has decided that America's time of greatness (however broad the meaning of that word is) is at an end. I hope my comment turns out to be another "who needs dropbox". Edit0:s/this/my.

It was pretty bad - the Android sub-system does not seem to be available to external adb instances afaict. Also, this was a recent 'improvement': previous versions of ChromeOS required putting the device in dev mode to allow exter

One minor counter-example: to enable third-party apps on my Android-supporting Chromebook, I had to go through considerable contortions (1). It was not as easy as it is on typical Android devices. 1: Install Linux sub-system, install androi

It has some flaws (e.g. inability to get changes in an update) but it has been a handy way to keep track of apps that I have picked and install them on multiple machines.

I still use my DS Lite along with my 3DS XL: Nintendo really builds things to last, ime. Looking forward to the release of the retro Game And Watch Mario Bros in November.

Thanks for acknowledging my point. I acknowledge your concern about Audible but still say that they are currently too-big-to-fail and as a result, unlike in video-on-demand (Netflix vs. its competitors) and perhaps ebooks (Amazon vs. Kobo v

You have probably hit upon the core of the disagreement: when I buy a book, I want to keep it and I will refer to it in the future. Books that aren't keepers, I will borrow from the library. I don't read much fiction but the stuff

What is your fear here for comments opposing Audible's hegemony? This discussion and your other discussions have devolved into "yes it does!" and "no it doesn't!". Could you just explain why Audible and its sch

Because it just doesn't affect you: Audible has sucked the oxygen out of the room by virtue of its Amazon leverage so most people can't even name an alternative. Eventually alternatives die and all of us unwillingly get put in the

When you corrected your spelling mistake ('connivance'), my comment became useless so I removed it. You are dismissing other's concerns about walled gardens so it seems a bit hypocritical to call my contribution negative.

There are a few ways to convert epubs to mobi but they are elaborate. I have never bought a Kindle for this reason: Kobo devices tend to be nice and open and they accept external/drm-free epubs/pdfs.

Some of Garmin's devices allow copying of data to software of your choice. This gives you a mature device that is excellent at managing your health but as long as you never connect it to the Garmin app, your data remains yours.

The lack of fall detection in smartwatches other that AW4+ is a bit baffling. Garmin has an implementation but it only works during activities and not generally afaik. I got the AW4 for a parent primarily for the fall detection.
