Nice to read this. I've been thinking for a while that it would be nice to have paper ballots with the ability to cryptographically verify the inclusion of your vote in totals all the way up (ballot collection box, polling location, di

This doesn't really answer your question, but I wanted to sketch out how I think about the blank slate (or something like it) since it seems like you're engaging sincerely with everyone here. 1. Since networks in general like to p

Not clear to me what definition of "actual science" is operative here, and how you measure whether it still exists in some way/shape/form, but this may be hindsight bias. Gall was taking real measurements inspired by: -

This is probably SLA compliance stuff (stipulations for how quickly they have to provide notice of issues, how often they're obliged to provide updates, and how quickly they'll fix an issue). These stipulations, obviously, don

I think this is the big thing the previous poster is missing. The technical writer isn't going to go out in the wilderness with a copy of the source, assume they understand it after reading it once, write the documentation, and hit pub

Mosra has put a lot of nice work into what is roughly a Doxygen theme (I'm not certain, but AFAIR it technically builds from the XML output and isn't a true drop-in replacement for the default theme), m.css, which you can see in a

It does. I think you know this given how you phrased the last part, but I do want a mount a tiny defense of Doxygen, here: it's just as easy to write the same low-effort documentation in a simple comment, docstring, RST, markdown, docb

Probably not a ton. But technical writers need resumes, too. Some of them might also be programmers. Or interested in transitioning into a programmer-writer. I pointed someone in this direction on an hn thread a few years ago. My educationa

Maybe. If your goal is just, like being able to say you "have documentation." Or if you are already a lucid, efficient writer. But if you aren't, or if quality and usefulness are more important than ticking a box... It's
