What about economic tyranny? Shouldn't we be fixing that first?

That's disappointing. I was more interested in deducing the implications of power assuming scarcity was eliminated.

Sorry, still struggling to understand here. Today power and status is derived from scarcity. What is an example of power or status not derived from scarcity?

I'm stuck in this quagmire and have been for 18 months. Right now it's manifesting as a React on GraalJS project written in Clojure. I've learned a lot, but actual progress is, of course, elusive.

I'm not sure I follow. Private property exists right now to enable the accumulation of wealth. In a post-scarcity economy, what is the value of wealth accumulation?

What's the limiting factor in wind turbine size? Is it regulatory, construction capital, materials technology, supportive infrastructure, something else?

Help me understand "not particularly unusual or scary, because worse things have happened before." Is it more that people have survived worse, so we can survive this? Or more of that people's response to fear should be consta

It is unclear what your argument is. Are you making the argument that because something induces fear it is therefore incorrect?

If you internalize this cursed knowledge, you will see how language[C]-evangelists cherry-pick which dimensions to measure the value/success of a programing language. Don't proceed. It will make you frustrated, cynical, and disill

It might help if you could restate what argument you think I'm making. It feels like there is a mismatch between us in that way.

Ok. What do you think the history of OOP development, it's focus, and goals with respect to mutating (or non-mutation) of state is?

Understanding the history of OOPs development, what motivated it, what problems it seeks to solve, it's guiding principles, and design semantics, are not invalidated by copy on modify Uri classes (or Strings!).

When working with data, I like to avoid stateful data mutations at all cost. OOP's focus is mutating state. These are at odds. The identity semantics I hold for data are not invariant under transformation.

As much as it's nice to provide a solution along with evidence that something's broken, it isn't a requirement. Knowing something is broken is a different skill than fixing it. It's the reason we have mechanics, doctors,
