One of the reasons that YC is so great is that they back founders, not ideas. YC has never backed the same founder twice in a batch to my knowledge, and doing so is antithetical to its values.

I am not arguing that humans are better than AI at everything. But if you set the goal post at human-comparison you have to go apples to apples. Even non AI, even a digital calculator is better than every math genius combined at finding the

Umm.. this is a severe recency bias. What about all the things that humans can do that robots/AI haven’t yet shown promise in at all. Like basically any sculptural art, glass blowing, knot tying, or almost any athletic sport at competi

This optimization is pretty massive if used right. It means that you can draw this component directly on the pixel buffer of its parent instead of on a separate buffer of growable size that needs to then be copied over. Or if the browser re

I think the problem with this particular challenge is that it is incredibly non-disruptive to the status quo. There are already 100s of billions flowing into using LLMs as well as GPUs for chip design. Nvidia has of course laid the ground w

I’ve been using this for a while now. But one thing I recently worked on required these locks to be extremely efficient. Does anyone have any benchmarks on usage of these locks? Preferably compared to the use of rust’s tokio mutex from a wa

True, but there are benefits in some instances as well. For example, we store all rows as entity properties, not entities themselves. So a row would be the user’s email, one row for user name, etc. which makes it possible to do razor sharp

That’s a great point. We don’t really use the R part so much. However, you can’t always avoid it. That said, if your concepts in the table themselves can be atomic or isolated then yes your object model can just be a wrapper of sorts that b

Interesting take! In my experience, Dynamo and other NoSQL systems are really expressive and powerful when you take the plunge and make your own ORM. That’s because the model of nosql can often play much nicer with somewhat unique structure

What are the attack vectors for a web browser js environment to do malicious things? All browser code is sandboxed via origin controls, and process isolation. It can’t even open an iframe and read the contents of that iframe.
