In my experience shared memory is really hard to implement well and manage: 1. Unless you're using either fixed sized or specially allocated structures, you end up paying for serialization anyhow (zero copy is actually one copy). 2. Th

Using a service for this would kind of suck if you're _in_ the national park, due to cell service. The ML portion of this is probably still a bit harder than the GPS bit. ML: Grab yolov8 (Optional?) Fine tune it on bird pict

It's not, though. I'm not buying a 30 year old tomato, like I would a 30 year old game. I'm going to keep buying a tomato every week to make my BLT, enabling the grocery store to continually give money to the farmer for more

Buying a retro game no longer gives money to the developers. It doesn’t support the development of further games, it mostly just puts money in the pockets of collectors and scalpers.

Yes, though I'd want to add special detection for this case - to ensure that there are no runtime race conditions for having or not having a state from last frame. No serialization occurs unless the message goes over a non-inproc trans

Self submitting this. Some background: I quit my job to go fill a need I saw in the robotics industry. The current industry standard for robotics frameworks is lacking in a lot of ways, especially around testing and simulation. Over the pas

This is actually an area I’m solving right now in the robotics space - you’ve got it exactly right. You need to restrict usage of calls to query the system time, deep control over the message passing later, and a custom scheduler for execut

The open/closed decision is a current weight on my mind right now. Our main competition is an open source product - it feels like it will be a tough sell to not also have the core of the product be free (Robotics framework). I might sh

GP is likely referring to network latency here. There's a tradeoff between smaller GPUs/etc at home that have no latency to use and beefier hardware in the cloud that have a minimum latency to use.
