Compression, encryption, auth: not immediately. What's the use case here? Multi-machine robots are _tricky_ to get right. Running remote controls and telemetry via the framework would be really cool, but is also tricky to tune (need re

We support mcap (the data container format that ROS2 uses) and Foxglove for viz. Shoutout to Foxglove, it's a much nicer experience than rviz. Something like tf is on the todo list - I recognize it's important.

I have not, it honestly feels a little rude to do so - but maybe I should.

Testing: this is mostly my experience, but ROS doesn't have any form of built in integration testing. I should be able to take a launch file and a bag, run it, and validate the outputs easily. And that's not even getting into test

Go to KBR. The walk isn't too bad, and there's peacocks around, if that's your sort of thing.

A bunch of the filesystem was visible to all apps that isn’t visible on a regular phone. I’m sure someone smart could have gotten around the detection, but nobody cared enough to do so.

I wouldn't go that far. The number of jailbroken phones was a fraction of a percent of our user count, but 100% of our known cheater count. Every single one.

This is very familiar. I spent a few weeks on a mobile game hiding various values in memory (using lua metadata magic to make it transparent to the designers!) Eventually it turned out the best thing to be done was just to ban all jailbroke

If the raw data is available, a slippy map server is very easy to spin up.

This wasn’t the case when he originally announced no LIDAR was it?

It's cost - LIDARs aren't cheap. Tesla is set up as a consumer car company first and a robotaxi company second, costs matter even more. They could jack up the price of the final product, but presumably it wasn't worth it (at

Cheating with only your friends - yeah, mostly. Cheating with randos sounds like it would lead to boring gameplay.

You can do this in C++, too, but the syntax is a little uglier.

The other thing is 10x improvement on basically nothing is quite small. Whatever time it takes for a message to be processed is going to be dominated by actually consuming the message. If you have a great abstraction, cool - use it anyhow,
