I’m relatively new to ZFS, but I thought you can send/receive over ssh (much like rsync). What’s the purpose of the VPN layer? My use is relatively small, just a home user with less than a TB worth of data. Definitely not worthwhile fo

I love the backup solution you guys provide with Borg, the pricing is amazing and the product has been rock solid. Any chance of getting similar "expert level" pricing for accounts using ZFS send | receive ?

Where on earth did you get that assessment from? She made a fundamental breakthrough in chirped pulses. I've been to her plenary talk, she's not in any way part of a "diversity quota".

My understanding is that it's takedown was due to fact that youtube-dl "bypasses technical measures that control access or copying of copyrighted works". I don't see how youtube-dl could be considered a "circumventi

Can someone with more knowledge on the matter help explain why downloading copyrighted material using youtube-dl as opposed to a browser is treated differently under the DMCA? In either case you're accessing copyrighted material by dow

Original title of "Trudeau promises to connect 98% of Canadians to high-speed internet in the next few years" was too long.

Trying to transmit via multiple spatial modes has been tried in the past. I'd be interested to see if OAM modes don't suffer from the same mode coupling behavior.

Thanks for linking the actual article. Interesting to see them using such a large RRC roll-off and still get an amazing spectral efficiency.

Does anyone know how this idea of repulsive forces in root spacing might relate to filter analysis?

Because it uniquely describes a user within a group of 100 other people. 2^(-6.6) ~ 1/100

I can definitely sympathize, but anytime you take on a new project like this for the first time you're bound to at least make some stupid mistakes. I'll be following the project closely, hopefully you manage to overcome all the di

Please don't take the comments I wrote above as overt criticism, I was trying to point out some of the potential pitfalls in DIY function generators. As I said your project seems really interesting, especially if the software interface

I'm not comparing it to a commercial product, I was linking a datasheet that describes how the output stage of a function generator is built. It takes a lot more than "a couple simple components" to get 95% of the functional

In theory yes. The issue is the different load conditions will mess with the voltage divider bias. Check out page 272 and onward of the HP33120A manual https://coupp-docdb.fnal.gov/cgi-bin/RetrieveFile?docid=206&...

It's not really a function generator without DC offset and proper amplitude control. I don't want to be overly negative, it's a cool project. I think there's definitely something to be said about having polished interfac

I'm in the same boat. After having played with all the other vendor libraries, I think I like ac_datatypes the most. It's been really fast and the Catapult is a pretty good engine. Can I ask what industry you're in? I'm

Traditional error free transmission in optical comms is 1E-15 BER. I can't access the EPON standard right now, but my experience with other IEEE standards would tell me they're probably guaranteeing 1E-15 for worst-case optical li
