Yes, as a wild guess, putting 100ohm or 1000ohm resistors in series with each lead might make it safe for inputs and outputs, whether wired correctly or incorrectly. There is no need to keep low impedance to drive a speaker or headphone.

Just bought one of those garden night lights the other day. Have not taken it apart yet. It has a 2cm x 2cm cell on top and says it contains a 2/3 AA NiMH battery IIRC. Cost about $1.29. That low price doesn't compare to a larger

Perhaps those creating developer tools etc can aid this scenario by making their "cross platform" story Linux/MacOS/ReactOS or Linux/MacOS/Linux.Wine, rather than Linux/MacOS/Windows. This might also

OMG. I've always seen people doing surface navigation or at most surface digging in Minecraft. I never made the connection to possibly blasting away rocks while below surface.

A First-Person Tunneler would probably also make for a boring video game. Wait, does the word 'boring' come from the drugdery of digging tunnels?

Possible satire, but conceivably practical: Emacs user links modifier foot pedals to generator, powers own computer.

Here's another iteration: A user supplied board with a high-gain op-amp, a comparator, and a latch -- accepting a clock line -- could produce a definite noise-informed bit sequence. This bit sequence could be observed both at that leve

That loosely characterizes my reaction to his "New Science" tomb however many years ago. Succinctly, I took the celluar automaton stuff to be simulating nonconservative diffusion. That said, my guess is that the current combinat

Yes, clearly I2C, properly employed, adds far more to observability than it might, in principle, very rarely take away. And of course: a) Oxide is not the first to use the same components; b) Oxide is past the point of bring-up problems wit

In the late 1970's I attended an informational talk by an engineer in the Bell system. The speaker said: "We don't know how good the [POTS] system is, but we don't want to make it any worse."

Nice demonstration. IIRC the Slint core is a runtime with a graphical backend which can be varied. I assume their UI markup compiler (IIRC) still runs non-self-hosted. --- Now includes BSOD! > We used our Slint blue color as a background

This is something which worries me with Oxide using I2C (according to their board bring-up podcast), and using an auto-direction-switching level-shifter on the I2C bus. I hope and I am sure they can make it work, but to me that comes closer

I sometimes wonder if these sorts of observations provide some reason to make either embeddedable languages or NOT self-host a compiler for a new language, but continue to write the compiler in C or C++. This is a weak argument compared to
