I've always wondered why we devalue parenthood and make people feel like they aren't contributing when they choose to raise kids over having a career. As a parent, I don't see how much of any work I do could be more important

I think part of it, is that it's much easier and palatable to talk about what happened a long time ago. What is happening now is a 'conspiracy theory' until at some point in the future it becomes historical fact.

Another reason, I've not seen mentioned, is that you think bonds will go even more negative, so you buy now, to avoid having to buy a much more negative rate later.
