I don't want to give too many details, but I will say if you graph prices over time it looks a lot like a market price. Maybe I should add a price history page to demonstrate that it's not noise...

Yeah, this is pretty much the loophole. They're never actually referred to as futures, but as "private, transferable contracts for the future physical delivery of yellow onions".

Exactly right. You're able to privately resell contract keys (and the buyer can then re-issue a new key with their delivery info, voiding the old one), but onionfutures.com doesn't facilitate it.

Hi! I'm the proprietor of onionfutures.com. I'm actually not a member of UChicago for Our Futures and came up with the idea independently, but we've since connected and they handle our Chicago deliveries.

This loses the "feature" of being able to write builtins in different languages/operating systems/whatever. Either way, I think a serious version of this would use threads. Concurrency is the real potential benefit imo.
