what was it again? export CVS_RSH=ssh -z9 sourcesafe was trash. i migrated a pretty massive project off of it (browser, os, several bsps) and like 30% of the revisions were irretrievable.

dns runs on port 53. the rpcbind service on 111. pop and imap, both privileged, even with ssl enabled can take usernames and passwords. making this sort of change in any installer script is a terrible idea.

no, i disagree. privileged ports should not be removed from linux to make a javascript webserver more secure or easier to setup.

lenovo p1 is basically an intel mbp 15. camera and audio aren't as good as the mac, although i hear the camera has improved in later generations. bigger issue is that the nvidia graphics are wired to the thunderbolt ports, so if you wa

in this sort of scenario you would detect the error by a failure to see an increase in temperature over some interval. the trigger functions typically would just raise dio lines high which is not something that really fails unless you'

i remember this was possible on thinkpads and linux with a custom pam library like ten years ago. it was fun to set up, but not really worth maintaining.

> The closest thing we have to a C conference every year is CppCon. A lot of CppCon isn’t really just about C++, and the subjects of many of the talks are easily applied to C, since C++ builds so much upon C. In a sense, a subset of CppC

matlab or octave (oss clone) may be of interest to you. for symbolic math try wolfram alpha, the matlab symbolic math toolbox or one of the symbolic math packages available for python.

i love how the low bits of the addresses in hex are cognates for both the section and the actual content of the name/line. also, looking glasses... jeez. i haven't heard or thought of those in _years_.

that's basically what it does, it finds peaks relative to total power. you can think of it as like identifying continents by constellations of mountain tops which is robust to whatever chaos might be happening at sea level.

yeah, maybe you're right. it does, however, seem to share something with basic science: it's an endeavor with no immediate or obvious value, yet expands the frontiers of knowledge and know-how for the species as a whole.
