Reminded me of something I have been thinking about lately: a centralization-cost curve. The engineering problems that go into building things of a certain scale eventually become more expensive than simply breaking up the problem into smal

I've been struggling with the Postgres vs. SQLite decision lately, especially since my app runs on a single server (and will likely continue that way for a long time) but the real reason I am still leaning towards Postgres is for the e

There is a workaround. Apparently you can get one single laptop display but then you can use visionOS apps on the side. That is good enough for me.

I was thinking the same, but from what I understand, you can only create one virtual display with a Mac. How are you planning to replace 5 monitors?

Now all we need is for Amazon to come out with a "government-as-a-service" product for your budding nation state.

War with Iran would be apocalyptic to proportions hard to imagine. For one, they could destroy oil infrastructure, and that would be far more destructive to world economies than the current blockading of the strait. That would also mean the

Lots of people wondering why we haven't wiped the pirates off the map yet. First of all, Saudi has been trying to do that for years (with US support) and failing. I think it shows how much leverage the Houthis have, and how much cheap

I don't think it matters what the US decides to do here. It's a lost cause either way. If the last failed war in Afghanistan (and Vietnam) taught us anything, it's that native bootstrapped insurgency is impossible to stop, as

So you're saying this is a fait accompli. Like many great innovations in tech, break the law because the law is silly; remember when Uber and AirBnB were illegal in most major cities and achieved market dominance anyway? I say, good ri

The AI-powered rules thing is revolutionary. I can't even begin to imagine what it can do, but I'd rather it didn't just do it automatically, but rather put it into a queue for me to approve. I'd love an AI assistant to
