Michael Wolf comes to mind; a photographer that started down the same line of skyscraper photography but ended up with his own vision [1] through gradual innovation. [1] http://photomichaelwolf.com/#night/11

I’d strongly recommend Bostrom’s book ‘Superintelligence’ for a good overview of the problem-space. My favourite high-level solution to the virtuous AI problem is Yudkowsky’s ‘Friendly AI’ approach[1]. The best part of this strategy is ‘Coh

This is a neat project. How much did you sell the company for and how much money were you making prior to the sale? I recognise that both those questions could be invasive. A ballpark-figure is fine and I won't be offended if you decid

I think this point connects quite nicely to Untog's comment [1] about why Uber succeeds where Homejoy did not. [1] https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=10451531

Cataclysmic outcome: linkedin is embedded on a porn site/page and starts feeding the names and professional profiles of visitors to the owner. These people are then contacted and blackmailed based on socio-economic status (e.g. targeti

From an environmental perspective, these kinds of economic incentives seem highly damaging. Not that I've got anything against you for exploiting them.

This is partly because modern societies are struggling to figure out how to enjoy prosperity without growth[1] (some would depressingly argue that prosperity is the growth of consumption). [1] A big topic for sustainable development: htt

From what I've seen of UK-based law firms, this is typical. A young law-hopeful will face insane competition to get the relevant work experience and eventually get on a vacation scheme (2% success rate) [1]. Here they will do 2-4 weeks
