personally i would think the "programming" that Network Solution would offer you is not what you are looking for in a startup! the most they would do is put a static html site and MAYBE do simple DB and php integration. also why didn't you

for starters i would keep it ad free. but once it picks up momentum and you are getting a lot of visitors, i would maybe incorporate a video advertisement in between songs. so maybe after 5 songs it would display a video/audio advertisement

why are you adding slashes to the password before converting it into md5? even if they have ' in the password the md5 would get rid of it when you use it in the query.

i'm not sure about the quarterly without actually going in the database and querying it but over the span of 3 years we went from 0 registered users to 150,000. Each user does not necessary mean a sale as our source of income is purely base

also when logging in if i leave the username or password field empty i get a 404 error. so you'll need to fix up the error handling on the register and login page.

do you mind sharing how you actually got those hits in the first two weeks? i know with many startups getting the word out after the launch is very hard. so aside from HN what else did you do to get word out and get even foreign non-profits
