Either this or wire seems to be what people suggest. How do you convince people to use one of them though?

Also the saturation is cranked up to 11, and maybe some kind of diffuse-glow effect. I don't think you're being inappropriate. The processing totally ruins what would otherwise be strong contrast between red-orange sandstone and g

On an unrelated note: why does nobody ever scale photos for viewport height? I can never see whole portrait-oriented photos without zooming out.

Yeah I realise that. Even if it does work (noting currently most BCH blocks are tiny) then the chain will grow by ~135Gb per month (the entire Bitcoin chain is ~145Gb). Running a full node means you now have to buy a hard-drive (or two) and

Ok. We'll just ignore the issues associated with increasing full-node storage requirements even faster than they're already increasing. And lower transaction fees lead to lower block rewards which lowers mining profitability. Both

Non native english usually just has a few weird word choices as opposed to a really formal and replacing common words with much less common ones that mean roughly the same thing. I'm talking about comments that my younger self would ha

I'm talking more about how many unnecessary words I have to read than about clarity or contributing to the discussion. You could've written something like this instead: I'm guilty of this, but that's because I self-revi

My pet peeve on HN is people writing comments like they're gonna be peer reviewed. Either the less common words that they use are obviously out of place like someone just discovered a thesaurus ( conflated is my favourite example), or

I keep it simple: A bunch of semi-organized markdown files + resilio sync (+ an old always-on android phone for a resilio 'server'). I can continue living in Emacs (and a markdown-friendly android app). I tried to bespoke notetaki

I do use syncthing, but like you say there are hardly any apps which can use it. There's OwnCloud (or *DAV servers) but I think it's a bit silly requiring a server to host data which I'm only going to sync over 5 devices tops

There are a crapload of alternatives, switching in a meaningful way is hard: 1) You have to give up convenience (and/or money), nowadays the alternatives have caught up to where this is kinda the only point of difference but you still

Google and Facebook are not opt in. They have your data if you browse the web and don't know enough to block/avoid their tracking techniques, or with Facebook if you just have Friends who use it. That argument is bullshit and I&#

I used to use third party desktop & mobile chat clients for facebook and hangouts, both via XMPP. Then I guess they realized how much user data they were missing out on by not excluding third-party apps and dropped support.
